Hello, and happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! As you can see by the title, today’s post is going to be a little Stranger Things-centric, but there’s no way on earth I was going to pace myself with season two, so here we are. I promise I got off of the house and did other things though! Here, I’ll prove it…
Our Friday night was all about one thing, binge watching season 2 of Stranger Things! Once Jake got home from work, I Door Dash’d us some hot wings, and then we proceeded to watch episodes 1-7. I really enjoyed this season. I thought the soundtrack was A+, Winona is still a jittery mess and I love it, and Steve’s hair has literally never looked better. My only gripe is with Billy. Is he going to serve a purpose later, or was he just the town jerk for no reason? Also, good lord what a terrible mullet.
My Dad and I didn’t plan on a run this weekend, by my brain still woke me up early anyways! I made the most of the early morning by trekking over to Kroger to purchase some breakfast necessities and a surprise coffee for Jake, and then when I got back we wrapped up the last two episodes of Stranger Things. After our binge watch was over, we made our way over to the gym and I logged a 5k on the treadmill, and then did some shoulder strengthening exercises with Jake, all while wearing my Stranger Things shirt!
After the gym, we quickly cleaned up, dropped our dog off at my parent’s house so she could run and play, and then tried a new-to-us restaurant, The Black Walnut Cafe, for lunch! I’ve heard great things about this place for awhile now, but always forget to check it out! I was so impressed! Everything on the menu looked amazing! I wound up ordering a chicken sandwich with a side salad with a pesto vinaigrette dressing that was an absolute game changer. Jake said his burger was amazing, and I snuck a few of his fries and thought they were pretty good as well! If you’re in the Colleyville area, I highly recommend it. It’s tucked into a corner where the Lifetime Fitness Center is (also, if you and I happened to go to high school together, remember when Lifetime was like the hang out for awhile? I don’t think anyone actually worked out, but everyone was always there).
After lunch, Jake and I kept up with our annual Fall tradition (four years strong!) and headed over to Hall’s Pumpkin Farm & Corn Maze to pick out our pumpkins! We first did the corn maze, and I decided to time ourselves this year to see how well we would do, and honestly…not that great. It’s a pretty small maze, and it took us about eleven minutes, also to add insult to injury, we could see over the corn. Oh well. I guess you won’t be seeing us in the Maze Runner franchise anytime soon. After exiting the maze, we settled upon three pumpkins (one large for carving, a medium size that I have yet to decide it’s purpose, a mini one for decoration), and then left. We made a quick trip to Target for some Halloween costume necessities, then picked up our dog and drove back home! We had every intention of watching the David S. Pumpkins SNL special, but my idiot self fell asleep around 9:30 pm, shortly after Jake finished carving our pumpkin. Also, can please appreciate his pumpkin carving craftsmanship for a second?
He carved R2-D2! I have the dexterity of a toddler, so there is no way I would have been able to pull this off myself.
I sort of slept in and got up around 7:30, and started the day with some laundry and cleaning up before Jake and I made breakfast and watched Hocus Pocus. Shortly after we packed up the dog again, dropped her off (Thanks, Mom and Dad!), and then did our usual Sunday tradition of gym and groceries! Run Project was kind enough to send me a super cool “Badass Texas” tee, so I logged 3 treadmill miles in my super cool shirt, and then did a little kettlebell work with Jake! After lunch and cleaning up, Jake and I hung around a bit and then met up with his parent’s for dinner at The Black Walnut Cafe (I know, but it’s SO good). This time I tried the turkey burger with sweet potato fries and it was absolutely delicious! We concluded the night by finally watching the David S. Pumpkins SNL special and then heading to bed!
Did you watch season 2 of Stranger Things this weekend? Let’s discuss!
