Hello and happy Tuesday! Today we are recapping the Skyline 5k that my Dad and I ran this past Sunday! This is my second year running it, and if you’d like you check out last year’s recap post here! The run was sponsored by Run Project, and as usual, they put on a great event. It also helped that the weather was A+, we had a great view of the Margartet Hunt Hill Bridge, and per the name, the Dallas skyline. The race offered 5k, 10k, and half marathon routes, but we kept it chill this year and just opted for the 5k!
What I Wore:
- Nike compression shorts
- 2014 Dash Down Greenville t-shirt
- Sweaty Bands headband
- Saucony Kinvara 5 Runshield shoes
- Apple Watch
Hooray for flat courses! Also hooray for a course that’s most, if not all, on the road! Easy-peasy, and ideal for runners of all levels. My only complaint, and my always complaint, was the turn around where you have to see all the runners ahead of you circle back and watch with immense jealousy knowing that they are stupid fast, and closer to the finish line. I mean congrats to all of those guys, but wouldn’t rather be a half a mile away rather than 2.5 miles away from the finish line? Right? Same.
How I Felt:
Okay, I felt great, but the above photo says otherwise given that I had to show my Dad fifty times how to take the photo. The weather was sunny, and breezy, absolutely ideal for running. I was almost upset I didn’t sign up for the half marathon course because it felt so great! Maybe next year?? Also, I’d do a post race recap, but there weren’t a ton of vendors or activities once the run was finished, but we did great free full size water bottles and bananas!
Another successful 5k in the books for 2016! This is definitely one of my new favorite Run Project races, so I hope they keep it around for years to come!
