Hello and happy Wednesday! As I had mentioned back in July, I really wanted to concoct a fun iced coffee recipe to share on the blog…but then I took a random blog break and forgot about it. Whoops! July may be over, but it’s still hot as (choose your own expletive here) here, so iced coffee is still my main morning beverage of choice! I’ve listed below what I’ve been brewing up lately (pun, super intended), while it may not be “fun”, it does have some interesting health benefits, and still tastes great!
- 1 Green Mountain Breakfast Blend k-cup coffee (Here) (Keep in mind, obviously you can use your own coffee, whether it be freshly ground, or in a k-cup!)
- Coconut milk creamer (Here)
- Dash of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon maca powder (Here)
- 1/4 teaspoon collagen powder (Here)
- Ice. (Here. Jk Jk)
Why These Ingredients?:
I turned onto maca powder from a Youtuber, PBBunny97, and collagen powder from blogger, PBFingers.com (a couple of my fav vloggers and bloggers who are totally different, but both happen to have “PB” in their usernames haha). Maca powder is believed to aid with energy. PMS, as well as skin and hair health (source). The taste is minimal (at most it is slightly nutty, but it dissolves really well), and I was interested in trying it out to see if it would assist from the energy I’m already getting from coffee, but without the jitters. The collagen powder is tasteless, dissolves clear, and is said to be great for improving skin elasticity, and joint repair (source). I was mostly drawn to the skin elasticity benefits as that I suffer from pitted acne scars due to the super fun cystic acne I had from middle school till I was about 22. Granted, I realize scarring cannot be completely repaired unless I seek the help of a dermatologist, but until I win the lottery or payroll screws up and adds an extra zero to my paycheck, I’m gonna have to settle for small affordable fixes! I will say that in the two weeks I’ve been using it, my skin does feel a lot softer! I’ll report back later if I notice any significant long term effects!
I start off first by my dumping my dry ingredients into my coffee cup, and then pouring in my coffee (or rather, let my Keurig do it). I’ll stir until the dry ingredients have dissolved and then add in my coconut milk creamer and ice!
How do you take your coffee?
