*For reasons unknown (actually it was probably my fault because I’m an internet moron) WordPress would NOT load my pictures on Sunday night or Monday morning. I finally got them to load on my lunch break today – hence the super late post. Sorry!
Long time no see, my friends! I apologize for the unintentional absence last week! I had the late duty shifts at work and was stone could exhausted trying to balance that while finishing up my June mileage goal, so blogging fell a bit by the wayside. I also apologize for this weekend recap being so brief! For a holiday weekend, I sure did a whole lot of nothing! I love checking my Timehop around this time of year, because all of my summers home from school my statuses are like, “Going out with friends!”, “Can’t wait to hang out!”, or “Fireworkkssss!” (ugh remember when it was cool to trail your letters? Barf.) and now I’m all about trying to be home before 8 so I can watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine with Jake while I settle in with some chamomile tea and hoping the kids in our apartment complex don’t try to set sparklers off next to our cars in the parking lot. In a few years, I imagine I will have just gone full Havisham and will be spending my days in a rocking chair belittling youths, but it’s fine. Until then, let’s recap my super chill weekend, shall we?
I started off my Friday with a treadmill 5k before work! It was a rough 3 miles with having run 5 consecutive days in a row, but I got it done! After work, Jake picked us some Chipotle for dinner, and after which he had to leave for work again, so I had a solo movie night and watched Okja on Netflix! I thought I would be in the clear on animal related emotions with it involving a fictional super pig, but dangit if that movie didn’t make me emotional! There were a few hard to watch scenes, but all in all it was really good!
Saturday morning, much like last week, started off with a thunderstorm. Knowing that I definitely wouldn’t be able to make it outside for a run, I decided Saturday would be a perfect rest day, and rest I did! I took a nap, folded some laundry, watched some Netflix, and then Jake grilled up some steaks and ribs for dinner! It was a perfect low-key day.
Thankfully the rain had cleared by Sunday morning, but while precipitation was no longer an issue, humidity sure was! It. Was. SO. Humid. I met up with my Dad to log 6 miles through a local park, but it quickly dissolved into a 4 mile run with a two-mile walk…and I almost literally dissolved myself. I was so sweaty and disgusting after the run, it probably would have made more sense to put myself through the washer rather than take a shower (for anyone concerned, no I did not actually put myself in a washer. I don’t think Tide Pods work well on color treated hair).
After (appropriately) cleaning up, I cleaned up the apartment a little more, and then Jake and I grabbed groceries and chilled out before leaving to see Willie Nelson in concert for the Outlaw Music Festival! The lineup was Margo Price (I saw her a few months ago), Hayes Carll, The Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow, and then Mr. Nelson himself. We had a great time, but I wish I had gone with zero makeup and workout clothes because I’m pretty sure I sweat off as much as my body could handle. More power to girls who can handle summer concerts with perfect makeup and hair, and not look like someone just surprised them with an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. I had gone in with Willie style braids and a bandana, which was quickly abandoned for a messy bun and the bandana for it’s actual purpose, wiping away sweat. Needless to say, no one will be asking for my LookBook link anytime soon. As for the performances, I wish Sheryl had sung more of the hits. How can you be Sheryl Crow, and play a summer concert without singing “Soak Up The Sun?” Willie was great, but poor guy doesn’t sing so much anymore as he just speaks the lyrics. He’s still killing it at the guitar, and you could tell he was having fun, plus his braids were as majestic as ever.
I hope you all had/or still having a great holiday weekend! I have work today but am off tomorrow. I hoping for maybe some grilling and pool time, and I’m really crossing my fingers for catching some fireworks shows without having to go anywhere, because parking on the 4th of July is the *Jean-Ralphio voice* wooooorst. Hope you all have a great and safe Independence Day!
