I’m gonna go ahead and tell you that this week’s Friday Finds has nothing to do with flamingos, but I thought it was adorable so I went with it anyways. I mean, I could encounter a flamingo between now and Monday, so who knows. Do they escape from the zoo often? I’ll have to look into this. Flamingos aside, this weekend is nothing but rain, rain, rain, and then a bit more rain, which is a bit of a bummer because I was anticipating getting a run in, and Jake and I are seeing his favorite band, Dave Matthews Band, on Saturday! If Dave Matthews has taught me anything it’s that relationships are about compromises, because after this concert DMB will be my most seen band and the only song I know is that one from Mr. Deeds. Last year’s show was a little eventful, so here’s to hoping we see as many teenagers getting drunk for the first time as we did last year. I’ll fill you in Monday on how that goes, but in the mean time let’s review some favorites from this week!
- Bowties and Bourbon candle
If there is anything I love more than candles, it’s candles intended to smell like a frat party. I’m pretty sure an actual frat party smells like old money and hazing, but good on Bath and Body Works for putting a fun twist on it. I’ll be real with you, I’m not sure what actual Bourbon smells like, but I did use to have to wear bow-ties for my concerts in high school band, so I’m familiar with that aspect. This candle comes in a dark navy hue and smells just like fancy men’s cologne, but I love it. I picked up last Saturday and thought it was fitting given that the Kentucky Derby was going on that day. Why not enjoy the preppy festivities from home, rather than bet on a horse with a weird name while wearing a hat big enough to be misinterpreted as a UFO from a far enough distance?
I happened upon this stuff in my Stridebox a few months ago, and loved it so much I signed up to receive it monthly! Sant is essentially a package of the dried fruit known as Garcinia indica, and can be used for a myriad of recipes, but I love infusing it with my hot tea in the mornings! Depending on how many pieces of dried fruit you add to your drink, you can either have a sweet, but mildly tart flavor, or if you add a few more you can get an ultra sour punch. Sant also claims to have 5x more antioxidants than kale, which is great because it’s hard to sneak a kale into anything, let alone enjoy it.
- Yoga buddies
If an actual person came and sat right in front of my face during yoga I would probably be creeped out and then politely ask Hilaria Baldwin to please leave, but when it’s the dog, I don’t really mind. Lately our dog Brinkliegh has taken to sitting right on top of the yoga mat whenever I lay it out to do my bedtime yoga routine, and then will just park herself until someone has to physically move her. The above photo is from Tuesday night when I attempted to reason with her with a stern talk and gentleman’s handshake, but alas we could not reach a deal, and Jake had to pick her up and move her to the couch. Strangely enough downward facing dog does not come naturally to her, but maybe one day we’ll get there.
- HTML Queen
Just kidding my HTML knowledge only extends to the marquee code I used to use on my Myspace page, but check out my SnapChat icon on the right hand sidebar that I installed all by myself! Installing widgets on the WordPress platform can be an absolute pain, but I
cursed at my computer until it worked read a few how-to’s and got it up! Now watch it be broken and accidentally linked to a virus, but for now it works and I’m proud of my tiny achievement! Now go follow me on SnapChat (mallorycanteven) so you can watch me make John Madden-like doodles on inanimate objects, or see pictures of my dog hiding in uncomfortable places!
That about wraps it up for this week! Here’s to hoping the rain won’t ruin my weekend plans. Also. it is Friday the 13th, so I could be attacked by a bullied swamp zombie with a machete for all I know. Oh well. I hope you all have a wonderful (and dry!) weekend, and I’ll catch you back here on Monday!
