Hello, and happy Monday! I hope you all are having a great start to your week! I’m over here hoping for a cold front to hit Texas as soon as possible, as we had unseasonably warm weather all weekend! I’m used to Texas to having inconsistent and frustratingly dumb weather, but this was ridiculous! Will I ever be able to wear my flannel tunics? Only time will tell…
Jake and I kicked off our weekend by hitting up Spin Pizzeria for dinner! We both opted for pepperoni pizzas (added mushrooms for me), and a couple of drinks! The party then moved to Half Price Books where we picked up a few movies and books, one of which being Turtles All The Way Down, so I’m prepared for my newest John Green cry-fest. I’m pretty sure his last book came out while I was in college, so it’s been a minute! and I was given a slew of coupons for a sale Half Price was having that weekend that I immediately forgot to use for remaining two days! Once we were home, we popped in Austin Powers, and I made it halfway through before succumbing to my usual early bedtime.
I woke up early to head into Grapevine to meet up with my dad to run around the lake with our running group. It was SO humid, and pretty foggy outside! I stupidly wore leggings, and cursed myself the entire run for not wearing shorts. I can’t get over how last weekend I was wearing knee high socks, leggings, and a long sleeve shirt, and this weekend I was sweating like it was mid July! Aside from the unfortunate weather, I was able to log 8 miles, but I’m crossing my fingers next weekend for cooler temps and more miles!
After our run my Dad and I grabbed Subway for breakfast, which by the way, have you tried Subway breakfast? It’s pretty good! I normally get a whole wheat wrap with eggs whites, a little cheddar, spinach, tomato, and avocado, and it’s super filling! We then popped over to Starbucks so we could get our tea/coffee with the new holiday cups! I know everyone has an opinion on the cups, and it seems like a sore subject every year, but I think this year’s is pretty cute! I will say it kind of reminds me Target advertising because of the black, white, and red, but it’s okay. I feel like if they just did a rep cup with white snowflakes then everyone would be happy, but I’m sure they thrive off of frenzy it creates on social media!
Once I had eaten and cleaned up, Jake met up with us for lunch, ran a few errands (Rachel, if you’re reading this, I FINALLY mailed your package to you. Just a couple months late, NBD), and then we ventured back to our place for an evening of Harry Potter on Freeform, and spicy vegetable pho for dinner!
Poor Jake wasn’t feeling so hot when he woke up, so I trekked to the gym alone for a one mile sprint on the treadmill, followed by a couple miles on the elliptical, and a few minutes worth of arm strengthening exercises. The workout definitely wasn’t anything to write home about (or the blog for that matter), but it was nice to shake out my legs a little after the previous day’s semi-long run.
While Jake rested, I cleaned up and then my Dad and I drove up to visit my Grandma for lunch! We went to buffet in her small town that has really good southern comfort foods, and then hung around for a couple of hours! We all lamented over the awful “fall” weather as it was a whopping 95 degrees that afternoon! Oh autumn weather, please feel free to return as soon as possible. Once I was back at home thankfully Jake was feeling a lot better, so we picked up our groceries, grilled some steaks for dinner, and settled in for a lazy evening!
How’s the weather in your area? Have you been able to wear your fall clothes yet?!
