Hello from your favorite fair weather blogger! Yes yes I know I missed last week’s Friday Finds, but in my defense, well I have none. To be honest I spent my Friday evening eating pizza and watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but hey sometimes we all need a break! I will say ever since moving it has been a challenge trying to be consistent with blog posts, so I really need to set a schedule for myself. Or better yet, I could hire an assistant to handle my day to day tasks so I can have more time for blogging! And by assistant I mean maid. And by maid I mean a magical fairy elf that will clean my apartment for free. Oh and in other fun news and another excuse why I couldn’t blog this weekend, our internet went kaput on Saturday morning! I will say living life like Laura Ingalls Wilder all weekend did wonders for my productivity. I deep cleaned the bathroom, decorated, watched five movies (okay, that part wasn’t productive), and I finished a book! Also, Jake was gone all weekend so I had to keep my mind occupied from thinking about murderers lurking the closet while he was away. Obviously. Without divulging too much in this opening paragraph, how about I recap the weekend day by day instead? Let’s get started!
Friday after work I had every intention to go to yoga, but when I got home it was cold and rainy outside, and the promise of pizza was just too much. Needless to say Yoga – 1 / Mallory – 0. Honestly though, I had really burnt myself out on workouts the week prior and I needed a break. In between pizza and movies I did make my way downstairs to check on my best friend’s dog, Max.
My best friend has a waitressing gig on Friday nights, so I went down to let the guy do his business and to talk about our life goals. Normal dog stuff. My favorite thing about Max is that when he is done playing, he simply stops what he is doing, and immediately goes to his bed. I’d like to think that this his best attempt at an Irish Goodbye. Also, Max also has his own Instagram now, so be sure to follow him and help him become the dog celebrity that he is in his head.
Saturday was supposed to be a 10k race, but my dad and I opted out due to the rain. I wish I could say I was a carefree individual who thrived on experiencing the elements, but if I don’t have to be out in inclement weather, I’m not going to do it, especially if it involves running. In lieu of the race, I headed home to do some laundry (still without a washer a dryer) and I went to the rec center with my dad. My mom and I also hit up TJ Maxx to hunt down a mattress pad (and we found one for $50!) and some knick knacks (leg warmers in my case). Since Jake wasn’t going to be back till late the evening, I spent most of the day at home with mom and dad and I cooked up a Blue Apron meal for dinner.
It was a kale and Monterrey jack cheese quesadilla and I know I say this every time, but this might actually be my new favorite Blue Apron meal. It was soooo good. I am definitely holding onto this recipe for future use…to make every day for the rest of my life. After dinner I headed back to the apartment to find that Time Warner Cable has a personal vendetta against Jake and I, and no internet. Jake was at work, so I did the best I could do by turning off the router and screaming into a pillow. Since Netflix was out of the question, I popped in Vacation, followed by It’s Kind of A Funny Story, and then ended the night with Napoleon Dynamite. I also organized the pantry and cleaned the kitchen. Clearly a lack of internet is boding well for the tidiness of my apartment.
Sunday we were still without internet, but I cut my losses and went home again for round two of laundry, groceries, gym, and to clean out World Market during a relocation sale. I walked out with three wall hangings, a candle, and a coffee table tray for under $75! We are still figuring out where to hang a few items, but I’ll post photos once everything up. However, I did assemble the “fall arrangement” for the coffee table tray and I am quite proud.
I feel like that photo alone takes this blog from my nonsensical ramblings to lifestyle blogger (like Preserve, but better because I’m not hawking $1400 artisan blankets or whatever the hell Blake Lively was trying to do). Any suggestions for what to decorate it with this November? The Gobbles TY beanie baby? Good thinking. I’ll go unearth that from my parent’s garage (seeing as how it was never worth the million dollars I was promised it would as a kid). After getting back to the apartment with zero internet, I proceeded to plow through Dan In Real Life, Enchanted, and Easy A. I also finished the Columbine book from my Autumn Reading Wishlist (more on this later), and that left with a rather uneasy and gloomy feeling, so I picked up Tyler Oakley’s Binge to balance it out (more reviews on these later this week!). Jake called TWC (I believe their number is 1-800-HELL) and figured it out that it had nothing to do with our router, but it would require to a TWC tech to come out and probably charge us the necklace from Titanic and 10 Faberge eggs. Of course.
Well, that my was internet-less and ultra productive weekend! I hope you also had a great weekend, and a great start to your week! I’m hoping this week I can get in another Broke Appetit, and some book reviews! Have a great a Monday and I’ll see you all tomorrow!
