Hello, and happy Friday, and brand new month! I wanted to write up another Friday Brunch post today, but I new if I didn’t put up my goal post today, then I’d never get to it, or it would be too late in the month! I thought I’d split this up between a quick recap on my goals for May went, and then cap it off with what I am hoping to accomplish in June. Sound good? Cool, let’s do this!
Finish 2 Books – Nailed it!
Not to be Ms. Overachiever or anything, but I actually knocked out three books this month! I’m saving more in dept reviews for next week, but I read Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks, Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon, and And We’re Off by Dana Schwartz! I feel like I’m finally back on my reading kick, and I’m so exciting for my book queue lined up this month!
Rearrange The Patio – Uh, kind of?
Okay, so I didn’t officially get around to totally revamping it, but I did spruce up the balcony a little with some outdoor candles and fake succulents! That counts, right? I still need to figure out how to maximize my space, but I’m liking that it’s slowly becoming less of an eye sore! I don’t feel as if I did enough to warrant before and after photos, but I’m going to keep this as a “back burner” goal for the rest of summer and work on it every so often.
Log 40 Miles – Crushed it!
Truth be told, I was the most nervous about this goal! When it comes to treadmill running I’ll find every possible excuse to do another workout instead, so I was scared I’d weasel my way out of this one, not to mention I came up with the goal two weeks into month, which already had me a little behind. Turns out I am capable of ditching excuses, because I totally did it! It was hard, and I had to endure a lot of Fox News (I always manage to get the treadmill behind the TV stuck on this channel at the gym), but I got my 40 miles! My legs currently feel like lead since I was in a race to log the last chunk of my miles this week, so I’m going to take a “run break” until Sunday (I’m writing this on Wednesday) and just focus on light cardio and yoga to recover!
Log 50 Miles
My logic is that if I know I can do 40 miles, then an extra 10 won’t be so bad…right? The good news is that I am starting this goal at the very beginning of the month, as opposed to starting it late in the month like in May, and my work schedule for the next few weeks will make it easier for me to hit the gym.
Try new lunch meal prep recipes
Deli turkey meat + carrot sticks + green apple slices + avocado for five days a week for the past three months has gotten so old, not to mention it isn’t very creative and not always filling. When I first got into meal prepping a couple years ago I used to have fun coming up with new recipes, but at the point I wasn’t getting burnt out on chicken, so that’s when I switched to turkey, and now I don’t what protein to try! I foresee a lot of Pinterest browsing this weekend to find something new, but I’d love to hear your suggestions!
Grow my Instagram
Last year I was really focused on growing my Instagram, and for the most part saw a lot of improvement, but once I shifted my “Insta” focus to running, the progress started to taper off (run puns!). I’ve played around with different hashtags, filters, and what have you, but I haven’t really found anything that’s provided a lot of results. Granted, I can’t say that I’ve really buckled down and taken the time to research what I could do to make things better, but hey that’s what goals are for, and here we are! Personally, I’d be okay with hitting at least 50 new followers by the end of this month. I’m currently at 465, so here’s to hoping for 515 by July 1st!
What are your goals for this month?
