Hello, and happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was equal parts productive, as it was fun! As you can see from the title, it also involves a little drinking, but read on to see how I’m a total loser and that I’m 26 going on 105!
Cinco de Mayo falling a Friday is quite truly on of the greatest blessings. Doing our part to celebrate, Jake and I headed over to a local Tex-Mex (okay, so maybe not a “true” celebration) restaurant, Salsas Mexican Grill, for burritos, and get this, $2.50 margaritas! I hardly ever drink any more, but I couldn’t pass up that deal! My burrito was delicious, as was my margarita, and we left feeling satisfied with our Cinco de Mayo efforts. After dinner, we went back home and enjoyed a viewing of Moana, and I was so impressed with it! I wish I had seen it in theaters so I could have really enjoyed the animation (the details in that movie are UNREAL), but I really loved the story and the music…also, I now desperately want to go to Hawaii. Anyone wanna pay for that trip? Anyone…?
Jake was working a freelance gig all weekend, so knowing I’d be bored to death if I stayed at the apartment all day, I packed up the dog and headed to my parents for a run around the park with my Dad, and some local errands. We logged a little over four miles, and I wasn’t particularly fantastic, but such is the pain of being in your late twenties and feeling like Garbage Lite after just one drink. My dad and I grabbed wings for lunch, and spent most of the afternoon outside with the dogs. Mid afternoon I booked it back to my apartment so I could get ready for dinner with my best friend, Lindsey at Mi Cocina!
We don’t get to see each other that often because of crazy schedules (she’s a nurse), and the last two times we’ve tried to get together, one of us had come down with something. Thankfully we were able to meet up for dinner and drinks, where I tried a Skinny Mango Margarita (I’m not quite what makes it “skinny”, but dang if that thing didn’t taste like fresh pressed juice!), and some brisket tacos! We hung around for nearly two and a half hours (we had a lot of Bravo television programming to discuss), before we parted ways, and I promptly fell asleep shortly after getting home!.
Since Jake had another day of work, I for the most part repeated my Saturday routine again, only this time with three miles because my legs felt SO heavy and awful. Y’all, I really can’t hang anymore. I mean, I wasn’t hungover by any means, but I can definitely feel a difference in my running performance after a night of drinking versus had I not. I’m going to chalk it up to tequila consumption, because I am more than certain that I would have felt so sluggish had it just been a glass of wine the night before. Oh well. Lesson learned!
After our run, my mom, her best friend, and I had a mini girls day with lunch at Salata, manis and pedis, and some shopping at HomeGoods! I’ll touch on this in an upcoming post, but I’m really trying to jazz up our apartment patio for summer so Jake and I can enjoy dinner and drinks (definitely not margaritas) outside, and revamp it into a cute little hang out spot. I picked up some fake succulents, and some citronella candles, and it’s on it’s way to being a fun little space! After our outing, I spent a few minutes with the dogs before heading back to the apartment to meal prep, and getting ready for the week!
Such a good weekend! I missed having Jake around, but he doesn’t have a gig next weekend so hopefully we can make some fun plans (*cough* go see Guardians of The Galaxy *cough*)
Are you a boring light weight like me? (Please tell me I’m not the only one)
