Leave it up to me to post a goals post two weeks into the month, but it’s technically still the beginning of May, so it’s not that bad…right? I haven’t done a goals post since January, and I used to be pretty consistent with them last year, so let’s hope I can make this a monthly thing again! For the most part, I feel like I’ve been mostly on track this year with my 2017 New Years resolutions, with the exception of yoga because I have definitely running more rather than hitting up the yoga studio (working on that one too!), but my logic is that if I break up my goals by month, it’ll help keep me accountable. Plus, I can come up with other small fun things to try to accomplish monthly, rather than a couple of huge goals to reach by the end of the year! Let’s do this!
Finish 2 Books
As mentioned a couple posts back, I have been seriously slacking with my reading. I’d love more than anything to get back into my regular habit of turning to a book during my downtime, rather than Netflix, so with that, I’m shooting for completing two books this month! I’ve recently started “Emma: A Modern Retelling” by Alexander McCall Smith, and have “And We’re Off” by Dana Schwartz ready and waiting on my bookshelf, I just need to reincorporate reading back into my routine, which used to be at lunch and before bed. I do see somewhat of roadblock ahead though as both Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and House of Cards come back this month, but the mole women of Indiana and the Underwoods will just have to understand!
Rearrange The Patio
Be that our patio also doubles as the laundry room (the designer of our apartment complex had to have been high as a kite when they designed this place), our outdoor area looks more like a storage dump, rather than a fun hangout. Summer is just around the corner, and I’d love to have our little area spruced up a bit so we can enjoy it after work and on the weekends! The current setup is two rinky-dink fold out camp chairs, and an old outdoor TV tray that my Gramma let us have before we moved in, Jake’s bike, and our dirty clothes hamper (my logic is just to keep it outside next to the washer and dryer, rather than take up space in the bathroom). I’m thinking maybe I spray paint the TV trays, and maybe add some plants? I’m currently Pinterest-ing other ways to jazz it up, but I’d love to hear your recommendations if you have any!
Log 40 Miles
I meant to do something similar to this back at the beginning of the year, but hey better late than never! In a perfect world I’d love to log 50 running miles in a month, but I know that Texas summer heat is going to creep in soon, and I don’t want to reach my goal by way of ambulance due to heat exhaustion! 40 miles definitely seems attainable with what I normally I reach each weekend, on top of consistent treadmill work. As I write this I am currently at 12 miles for the month, so let’s see if I can finish this one strong!
We can catch up on this in June and see how I did! Is it sad that I am most excited about rearranging the patio? I swear it’s the HGTV and HomeGoods trips that are getting to me!
