Hello, and happy Monday! I’m coming back from an usually cold weekend here in North Texas! It mysteriously dropped down to about 50 degrees Saturday night, and stuck around for most of Sunday! Ya know, typical Spring weather? It may have moved most of my weekend plans in doors (actually not really. I had a full blown Disney movie marathon most of Saturday…), but the Skyline 5k was still on for Sunday! The chill and winds were in full force Sunday morning, and I was ever so thankful that my Dad and I had opted for the 5k route, rather than the 10k and half marathon options that were going on as well. It wasn’t my best 5k (more on that later), but it was definitely still a great time!
What I Wore:
- Nike 1/4 Zip Pullover (Similar)
- Nike Pro Hyper Cool Crop Leggings (Here)
- Race bib belt (Here)
- Garmin Forerunner 10 (Here)
- Brooks Compression Socks (Here)
- Saucony Kinvara 6 (Here)
- Momentum Jewelry Motivate Wrap (Here)
- Leisure Loops Bracelet (Here)
The 5k course was the exact same as last year! While the route was very forgiving with zero hills and entirely on paved road, it lacked scenic vale. Granted, the 10k and the half marathon course does actually allow the chance to see the Dallas “skyline”, so I understand the 5k map can’t be the same, but I would have loved to pass by a picturesque view of the city too, rather than a neighborhood! The above photo is what was adjacent to the 5k route, so I think you can understand where I’m coming from!
How I Felt:
In a word, “blahful”. Okay, so maybe not an actual word, but it’s honest! For starters, my sinuses had been a nuisance since Friday, and then about thirty minutes before the race, I got a nosebleed! The rest of me felt fine, but I spent of the race with that gross feeling that another nosebleed was about to happen again at any moment. I’m almost certain that all of my race photos will come out with me with my head tilted back and making the “almost sneeze” face. So yeah, total glamour shot material!
Like most of my Run Project races, I picked up my free Muscle Milk shortly after crossing the finish line! There were several vendors on deck, as well as a DJ (who was playing almost only Beyonce…as one should!) and a small beer garden. Had it not been so cold and windy, I’m sure we would have stuck around a little bit longer, but we were both ready to not be in the cold anymore so we booked it out of there pretty fast!
What is your favorite city skyline?
