I am forever a sucker for a fun blog quiz. I blame this mostly on spending my formative teen years posting survey bulletins on Myspace all the livelong day, but while Tom may have faded into oblivion, my love for surveys have not. That being said, please enjoy these random 20 questions! Feel to copy and paste to your own blog, or answer in the comments section!
1. What’s your whole name?
Mallory Anne Layfield (Yes, my parents are hilarious and intentionally made my initials spell out MAL)
2. Are you named after anyone?
Everyone’s favorite sister to a republican, Mallory Keaton from Family Ties. Here’s the TV show intro if you have time to kill, or want to look at a young Michael J. Fox.
3. Do you have any siblings?
I have an older sister, Megan, who I haven’t referred to as “Megan” in years because I only call her by her nickname, Toph. For any ‘Friends’ fans out there, her nickname originated from the episode where Joey takes Ross to the hospital and asks for his full name, thinking his first name was “Rosstopher”. I called her Rosstopher for the longest time until it eventually evolved into Toph.
4. Where did you grow up?
I was born in Oklahoma, but moved to Texas when I was five and have been here ever since!
5. What activities did you do in high school?
I was in band. Yes, I played flute and went to band camp, and no I did not do that.
6. Where did you go to college?
I went to University of North Texas. On behalf of everyone there, I apologize for Dr. Phil.
7. What activities did you do in college?
In retrospect I feel like I dyed my hair a lot, and was always crying about a terrible boyfriend. Oh, youth.
8. What did you study in college?
I majored in history, and minored in Italian, because I make terrible decisions.
9. What was your first job out of college?
I worked a sales job, and then for mortgage company, both of which made me Eeyore levels of miserable.
10. What kind of music do you like?
According to Jake, “garbage”, but mostly music I can work out to like 80’s and 90’s pop.
11. What’s one hobby that you’d like to take up?
My grandparents got me an acoustic guitar for Christmas when I was 15, which I proceeded to only spend two months trying to learn, and then let it sit in my parent’s coat closet for the rest of time. I’d eventually love to learn, and Jake already knows how to play, so maybe he can teach me! All I want is to be able to play the Bob’s Burgers theme song on ukulele if we’re being honest…
12. What did you think you wanted to be when you grew up?
I went most of my childhood wanting to be a veterinarian, and then most of middle school through college thinking I wanted to write for SNL, and now I’m not quite sure! I’m not panicking about it at all! Totally chill! Yep, just trying to figure my life out at 26 don’t mind me!
13. What’s the biggest project on your to-do list right now?
See question #12.
14. Do you have any irrational fears?
Birds, fish, and while I’m almost certain I’ll never encounter one, komodo dragons.
15. Have you ever traveled outside the country? If so, where and when?
I have not!
16. When’s your next vacation and where are you going?
Jake and I are actually trying to figure that one out soon! We went to Clearwater, Florida last year and had a blast!
17. Do you speak any other languages?
I minored in Italian in college, but five years later the most I can spit out is basic hello’s and goodbye’s, or how the torrid love affair of Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman divided a nation.
18. What’s one talent that you wish you had?
I wish I could put away laundry immediately after folding it, but I can’t.
19. What’s something that you wish you had more of?
Money, since State Farm is apparently trying to take all of mine (this post is being written shortly after receiving my apartment insurance and auto insurance bill in the same week).
20. If you weren’t in your current job, what would you want to be doing?
I’d love to be able to work from home, and in a dream world, somehow make my blog my job, but it’s kinda hard to monetize bi-weekly complaints and race recaps.
Since I brought up Myspace earlier, anyone remember their Myspace default song?
