Hello, and happy Monday! I am beat after a pretty packed weekend! I’m already looking forward to next weekend where I only have one activity on the agenda, and then time to do nothing. Let’s recap this busy weekend, shall we?
Friday started off super rainy, but by the time I got off work it was sunny and absolutely beautiful outside! Jake and I had originally planned to hit the gym after work, but the weather was so nice we opted for a Tex-Mex date night instead at Mi Cocina. I opted for tacos and a strawberry margarita, and while it was pretty good, ever since I tried out dry January, any-time I drink I feel like a 17 year old who just had a Smirnoff Ice for the first time and “totally feels it”. AKA, one drink makes me feel too woozy and I didn’t feel too great afterwards. This won’t keep me away from tacos though!
Saturday morning Jake and I trekked to Fair Park for The Color Run! I don’t feel like it was spectacular enough to warrant it’s own race recap post, but we did have a lot of fun, and get quite colorful! This year’s theme was all about unicorns, so there were a ton of inflatable unicorn decorations, unicorn finisher medals, unicorn costumes. It was everywhere! I feel like there could have been more color stations, but I guess you have to put a cap on cornstarch at some point.
After heading home and cleaning up, I tided up the apartment while Jake went out for a work gig. Thankfully he got off in time for another date night, so we hit up Fish City Grill for dinner (I had the same meal as a few weeks ago), and then we went back into Dallas to see Margo Price at the Kessler Theater! Neither of us had been to that venue before, but we both really liked it! I liked that it was cozy enough for an intimate show, but not so much that I felt like a sardine. Margo was amazing, and if she happens to pass your way I totally recommend checking her out!
I was supposed to wake up early for a run around the lake, but I stupidly set my alarm for the wrong date (anyone use the “Bedtime” alarm on iPhone? I set mine for Saturday rather than Sunday like a moron) so I could finally earn my Pi Day 10k, but I woke up an hour late! I was pretty bummed to have missed an outdoor run, but I can try again next Sunday! Jake and I hit up the gym, where I tried to run on the dreadmill, but I was having such an off morning that I could barely get through 15 minutes before I had to hop off and transition to a stair stepper. Every so often (*cough* 3 days a month *cough*) I’ll get too inside my head, making it impossible for me to enjoy a run. It was just…blah (excellent use of vocab there, Mallory). Oh well. Not every run is a success, but at least I got to try something different and climb all the stairs on the Stair Stepper. After the gym, we made a stop at Trader Joe’s for weekly groceries, and then had an impromptu breakfast with one of Jake’s best friends and his girlfriend at IHOP. Jake and I used to go to IHOP all the time back when I used to work a garbage 1 to 11 pm shift at my old job, and every so often after work we’d meet up for a “date night” at IHOP. I definitely miss the IHOP dates, but I can say without a doubt that I don’t miss getting off work at 11 pm!
After our double breakfast date, Jake and I headed back home and I meal prepped my lunches for the week, baking muffins, and then proceeded to binge watch my way through the entirety of Grace and Frankie season three. If any of you haven’t started Grace and Frankie, you must! I personally thought this season was it’s funniest yet. Plus there’s a character named Mallory! I mean, that may not be a plus for you, but it is for me!
I hope you all had a great weekend! I’ll catch you back here later this week!
What did you do this weekend?
