Hello and happy Friday everyone! I’m sorry I’ve been only rolling out two posts a week for the past month. For awhile I was on a roll of getting in at least three, but dangit if these past few weeks have been ultra busy! I’ll do a big “update” Tis the running season for wearing all of the sweat-wicking layers and cursing yourself for wishing for cooler temps back in July! With Christmas right around the corner, I thought I’d put together a tiny selection of my some of favorite holiday jamz to run to during this season. Each song is extra festive, cheerful, and trashy pop perfect for powering through an icy run. So bust out your tacky Christmas sweater (actually don’t if you’re running. I did that once and it was a HORRIBLE idea) and pair it with some equally tacky jamz!
Not going to lie, I started re-listening to this song back in October, but it’s so good! This song is basically just the same premise as “Last Christmas” but updated and little bit more desperate, but with that Grande vocal range you can easily forgive the lyrics!
I am one of the few people in the world that hates listening to a live performance, but I absolutely love this one and it’s super upbeat and great to run to! Also Hunter Hayes is adorable.
This song has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas, other than that someone added sleigh bells and “Christmas Mix” to the title and called it a day. Another upbeat jam to run to, plus you can reflect on the “what could have been” with Zayne Malik and Perrie Edwards.
Kelly Clarkson is a national treasure in the DFW area (she grew up in Burleson, about an hour away from me!), and also my life. Like the Ariana Grande song, I also start listening to this one way before the holidays even roll in. The last half of the song is just her scream-singing “UNDERNEEEAAATH THE TREE-YAHHHHH” and I love it.
This is truly one of the worst music videos of all time, and I love listening to this on a run because I immediately think of the video and bust out laughing. The wardrobe. The uncomfortable gift exchange with the homeless. Chris Kirkpatrick. It’s just too much.
I thought I’d cap off the list with the song that definitely inspired “Santa Tell Me”. In my defense though, she does Wham! proud with this one and I’ll stand by that it is one of the best “Last Christmas” covers around! I’m beginning to realize that most of her Christmas genre catalog is mostly about getting dumped on Christmas (was once broken up with two weeks before Christmas, can confirm that it blows!) but hey if she found her market (like 2010 me) then I’m here for it!
