Hello! My name is Lindsey Davidson, and I blog over at Sassy Southern Lindsey. I am so excited to be posting on Mallary Can’t Even! Now that you know who I am…let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I am an Oklahoma girl born and raised in a small town where there are five times as many cows as people (not even kidding). A few years ago my husband and I moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, for our grown up jobs (yay adulting). He is an attorney in Downtown OKC, and I worked at a PR and communications firm in Midtown. About a year ago, I left my travel blog job and accepted a position at Oklahoma State University (go pokes)! Over the years, I have learned to love living in the big city. There are good things are happening in OKC right now. Even though my address doesn’t say OKC–I still feel a part of this amazing community.
If you live in Dallas, you should highly consider making a weekend trip to Oklahoma City. If you are looking to get in the car and drive, it’s not a bad little trip. One way from Dallas to OKC is just a little over three hours. I am going to share with you a few of my favorite places!
Where to stay:
The Ambassador is located in Midtown and is an autograph collection hotel. It’s a smaller hotel with only 54 rooms that have a modern feel to them. The staff here is so warm and friendly, their attention to detail is unmatched!
If you decide to stay here, make sure to check out the rooftop bar–O Bar! This bar is an upscale indoor/rooftop bar with an amazing view of downtown Oklahoma City. I don’t know about you, but I like to kick off my weekend with a glass of wine! They have a great wine selection and a wide range of local craft beers.
If you are looking for upscale big brand names, plan on stopping by Balliets. The staff here is so friendly and helpful. Make sure to check out their sale section and upstairs beauty counter.
Restaurants to try:
Let’s be real, the best part about visitng a new city is checking out the hottest food spots. You can trust my recommendations, I eat to live! The only reason I hit the gym is because…pizza and queso. I have broken down my food recommendations by types, there is something for every craving.
I hope that you feel inspired to make a road trip to Oklahoma City in the near future. If you are looking for a girls getaway or a romantic weekend with your man, OKC has something for everyone! If you need more help planning your trip let me just let me know. Let’s connect on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Safe travels!
