Hello, and happy Monday! It’s a rainy day here in Dallas, but we had some beautiful weather this weekend that made for fun activities and running outside! Personally, I don’t mind dreary weather during the week. The only place I’m going to is work, so it can rain all day for all I care. Just give me sunshine on the weekends and then I won’t complain. Well, I’ll probably still find something to complain about because I’m terrible, but at least it won’t be weather related.
Guess who finally remembered to take pictures of what they did on Friday? Me! This will probably only happen once, and I’ll never remember to do it again, but let’s relish in my accomplishment for the time being.
Friday after work, Jake and I planned on staying in for the evening since heavy storms were expected, so before we picked up dinner I went to my apartment’s gym for a 5k on the elliptical, followed by some strength training. I also had the gym to myself so this workout was brought to in part by 2003 emo-pop jams on full blast.
After my workout, Jake picked up some Italian food from a new favorite restaurant, where I opted for some pesto bowtie pasta and a side of steam vegetables, and it was next level. I could, and maybe will, write a love letter to this pasta because it was everything I had ever wanted, and everything I never knew that I needed. During this mind blowing pasta experience, we hit up Netflix for a viewing of Dope (SO good) and Begin Again (starring my girlfriend Kiera Knightley), and I managed to stay awake to 10:30 pm. I know, I surprised myself too.
I headed to Grapevine bright and early for a 10k around the lake with my Dad, and then Jake joined us for a quick lunch with my parents at BJ’s. I had a portobello burger, that while pretty good, did not change my life like the pasta did, but that’s okay. After lunch, Jake and I headed back home and took the dog for a short one mile walk around our neighborhood. The rest of our day was pretty uneventful. I deep cleaned the bathroom and washed the bedding, and we spent the majority of the evening bouncing between episodes of Freaks and Geeks and Girls. I’m almost finished with the most recent season of Girls, and I hate everyone on the show and I’m not sure why I watch it. I would write an in depth post about this, but I honestly do not know what keeps me hanging on to this show. I’ll mull it over for a while and get back to you.
Sunday morning my Dad and I ventured into Dallas for the Skyline 5k! I’ll save my recap for tomorrow, but it was a great run with some great views (as seen above)! The weather yesterday was absolutely delightful, so once I got home I immediately wanted to get back outside. This goal was accomplished by taking the dog out for another short walk, and then Jake and I dropped the dog off with his mom for the rest of the weekend, but not before we got to play with the puppies at his parent’s house.
The golden retriever on the left is Rachel, and the yellow lab on the right is Phoebe. They were unintentionally named after Friend’s characters, but they are silly and adorable and so much fun to play with! Afterwards, we went back to my parent’s house to pick up some stuff I left behind the day before (#foreverforgetful), where I got to love on my own puppy, Hannah, but failed to take any photos of her. In my defense she doesn’t sit still well for photos, and like me, prefers to only be shot at certain angles. After not getting my dog model to cooperate, we hit up Trader Joe’s for our weekly groceries, and then back home to enjoy the rest of our day on the patio. The beautiful weather was short lived as I woke up at 4:50 am this morning to loud cracks of thunder and a Pink Floyd level light show outside, but #Texas amirite?
I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Also heads up, I’m wrapping up my last book for the April Goodread’s challenge, so I should be done with that by this week so we can recap the reads by hopefully next Tuesday! In the meantime though, I’ll see you back here tomorrow for a brand new race recap!
