Hello and happy Monday! I hope you all are coming back from an enjoyable weekend! I overpaid for a dumb meal, ran a little, and then had the best pho of my life! I know, it was a whirlwind of a time. How about we recap some of it? Cool? Cool, I’m glad we’re on the same page.
Friday evening began with dinner at The Ranch, a local restaurant that Jake and I decided to give a second chance after a mediocre first encounter, only to find that even the second time around is still disappointing. We started off with chips and queso for an appetizer, a margarita for me, and an Old Fashioned for Jake. The kicker was that our waiter offered to add pico to the queso, which come check time was apparently an additional $3, and when the waiter asked if what kind of salad we wanted before the entree, like any other person that has been to a regular non-upscale restaurant in America, we assumed that was part of the meal…PSYCHE! Extra $12. As for the entrees, our meals were okay, I mean the grilled snapper I had didn’t change my life, and Jake’s steak could have easily been from a Chili’s, but I’m just a little peeved that we paid so much for such a bleh meal, and I’m still mad about those stupid $12 salads! We ended up going home and watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens to quell our rage, but I forgot about Kylo Ren so if anything my rage was only intensified.
Saturday morning started off bright and early with a ten mile run around Grapevine lake with my dad. It was a laborious ten miles, as around mile seven I started to get hungry and realized I had forgotten to bring energy chews with me. I switched my playlist over to Britney Spears’ greatest hits to help push me through, and as always my girl delivered. I knocked out my ten miles and then immediately feasted on a spinach and feta wrap from Starbucks. After cleaning up at my parent’s house, my mom and I went and got our nails done (#gel4life), and then rounded up Jake and got some lunch. We ended up talking about unsolved murder mysteries all through lunch, so I apologize to anyone who may have seated next to us who was concerned as to the nature of our conversation. However, it’s your own fault if you’ve never seen The Jinx, because I promise you’ll never talk about anything else ever again after you’ve seen it.
Later that day, I met up with my best friend Natalie for a Korean beauty shopping spree (will touch more on this in this week’s Friday finds!) and dinner at an aweome pho restaurant appropriately called “I Love Pho.”
I opted for the vegetable noodle pho and a boba tea to drink, and it was DELICIOUS. I added a couple of jalapeno slices for an extra kick, while it unplugged my sinuses like a busted fire hydrant, it was the best pho I have ever had! It also reignited my dream of mine and friend Stefan who once thought it would be super cool to open a restaurant called “Pho Real”. Our tagline obviously being “Pho real the best pho you’ve ever had!” I’ll continue keeping that dream on the back burner.
After dinner I had the place to myself since Jake was at work thing, so I watched The Mindy Project (re-watching since it comes back from it’s long awaited hiatus on April 12th!) and did a face mask. I would have done this regardless if he was there or not, but given that it was a sheet mask, I could freely walk about the apartment without worrying that I was going to scare the begeezus out of everyone with my murder face. Also pro tip, never watch a comedy while doing a sheet mask. You will laugh, and that stupid thing will fall off your face twenty times.
Sunday began with me sleeping in till 8 am (gone are the days where I could sleep till noon. I miss you, college). My dad met up with Jake and I to round up some lunch and head up to the country to visit my Grandma for the day! It was nice enough to outside for us to eat out in the backyard, so that was delightful! After we arrived home, Jake and I hit up Kroger for some grocery shopping, where along with groceries, some light reading material.
PBFingers had mentioned this in her Thing I’m Loving Friday post last week, and I have been loving smoothie bowls lately so this was definitely something I had to pick up! In between gawking at pictures of smoothies, Jake and I watched the entire first season of Documentary Now! on Netflix and promptly fell asleep at 9 pm. We’re out of control, I know.
Just another wild weekend from yours truly. I hope you all had a great weekend as well, and I’ll catch you back here tomorrow for an update on last month’s Goodreads Challenge!
