Guess who did their second Color Run this weekend? This girl (who still finding cornstarch everywhere)! Jake and I headed up to Dallas early Saturday morning to participate in happiest 5k on the planet, known as The Color Run, and as expected, we had a great time! We completed the race last year (be sure to check out my Color Run tips in that post!) and knew it would definitely be on the agenda for 2016!
What I Wore:
- My Bill t-shirt, on top of a long sleeve tee.
- Lauren James PrepTec Athletic Shorts
- Asics GT 2000-3
- Sweaty Bands “Chakra Dots Multi” headband
The race started and finished at my absolute favorite (this statement is dripping in sarcasm by the way) place, Fair Park in Dallas, and was 100% road, and weaved throughout the venue. Jake and I walked this course, as did most of the race goers, and it was relaxed and not challenging in the slightest (yay no hills!). There were six color stations along the course; yellow, orange, pink, blue, green, and purple, and the big finale included being doused with glitter at the finish line!
I love glitter as much as the next person, but man is that hard to get out of hair…and the car…and clothes…and well, everything. I’m sure I’ll be finding glitter in everything I own for next few months, but it was worth it! I’ll just keep doing necessary loads of laundry until it’s all gone (sorry water bill, and Earth).
How I Felt:
Great! The energy was great, and each station, along with being showered in vibrant colored cornstarch, also had fun music blasting for everyone to dance to. I of course, pulled out all of the moves for Backstreet Boys during the blue station. The only downside is that my knees are still a little stiff from last week’s half marathon, but given that I wasn’t running I was not too concerned with causing in irreparable damage, nor did it deter me from being able to keep up a decent walking pace. If anything, the biggest inconvience was swallowing a mouthful of cornstarch at each station. When will I learn to bring a water bottle to these things?
Another successful fun run in the books! The second 2017 registration opens up you know I’ll be signing up! Now all I need is a Color Run half marathon. I could tolerate my 13.1 miles a lot more if it involved getting pelted with neon colors at every mile marker. Someone get on this!
