Hello, and happy Monday! This past weekend as part of a time honored Father’s Day tradition (okay actually we’ve only done this for like four years), my Dad and I ran the Must Dash 5k (get it? Like “mustache”? Oh, puns) in Richardson, Texas! The heat and humidity was present by the 8 am start time, which made for a great appreciation for sweat wicking fabric very early into the run, but we had a great time!
What I Wore:
- Nike Women’s Legend V-Neck 2.0 Short Sleeve Shirt (Here)
- Nike Pro Compression shorts (Here)
- Saucony Kinvara 6 (Here)
- Brooks Running Hat (Similar)
- Race bib belt (Here)
- Garmin Forerunner 10 (Here)
- Momentum Jewelry Motivate Wrap (Here)
- Leisure Loops Bracelet (Here)
They switched the course from previous years from cutting through a neighboring park, to a turnaround after the 1.5 mile marker, thus having the entirety of the race on road. Personally, I was kind of happy not to have to run through the park since it’s a pretty dense wooded area, and the heat and humidity would have just intensified that sap smell (anyone know what I’m talking about?) which really aggravates my allergies while running. Thankfully the inclines were minimal, and not challenging, so it made for a pretty easy course!
How I Felt:
Like a human wrung out towel. It was HU.MID. outside and I was cursing summer before I had even reached mile one. I am not looking forward to this summer season of running at all! I’m glad I had remembered to hydrate a little extra before heading out, or I would have really struggled!
Typical with most Run Project races, the post race set-up involved a Muscle Milk booth, and small freebies here and there (think like drawstring bags and pens…of which I already have 500). They were kind enough to hand us cold wet paper towels after crossing the finish line, which was much appreciated! There was also a huge splash pad available, but that seemed to be more for the kids (it was hot enough where I considering it), and a live band! This race normally passes out fake mustache stickers, but my Dad and I didn’t see any of them this year which was kind of a let down!
What is your favorite season to run? If it’s Summer please explain yourself!
